Yves Courson

Yves Courson

Yves Courson was born in 1963 in Boulogne Billancourt, graduated at the Beaux-Arts academy in Paris, he currently lives and works in Saint-Nom la Brtèche (Yvelines). The artist regularly exposes his works in Paris since 1991 and actively participates to contemporary art exhibitions in France and abroad.

Thanks to his work, the artist seems to keep playing the hide and seek game with the images. He really enjoys play with the fragile limits who often divide the art from the artisanal work. All is production creates a connection between the painter and the production of sculptures as well as objects and furnitures.

All his works are enriched with a constant research between human beings whom look for each other, run and sometimes meet in his paintings or sculptures and love each other.

“I create images, I tell stories, I put colours in this tragic world with the attempt of turning on a light in order to escape the shadows. I scream to the humanity” states the artist.

The artist is part of the exhibition “Breathing Colours” which aims to investigate how colours can change with different lights and shapes. Thanks to his constant use of brilliant shades and vivid colours, Yves Courson contributes to investigate this subject.

The artworks exposed bring a message and want to dig deep in the human soul. That’s the reason why Yves has chosen to paint faces, with a focus on the eyes of the characters, and words. Both these elements are showcased as main elements of human lives and heritage. Also, each face looks straight to the observer in order to invite him to be part of the history.

The black and white faces are surrounded by colourful words. This gives to the observer the possibility of discovering all the details and, for a moment, become part of their own life. Even their eyes fulfilled with pride become the easiest way to jump into the life of these masters of history and art.
