INGARDEN Joanna

Joanna Ingarden was born in Krakow in 1961, in a Polish People's Republic plagued by uncertainty, which she left at the age of 20 after studying literature, art history and drawing.

She went on to enrich her artistic knowledge in Paris and New York, before settling down not far from Lausanne, where she has set up her own studio in collaboration with designer Thierry Pierre.

“La Menuiserie", as it is called, is much more than just a studio. It is designed to be a place where she can meet and exchange ideas with the public and with other artists.

Raw expression

An elemental painting

Through a subtle blend of painting techniques, Joanna Ingarden frees herself from the constraints of academic style to express herself with greater freedom and passion.
Her brush sweeps across the canvas with a subtle force, at times seeming to tear the surface with a delicate touch. She explores space, playing with emptiness, fullness and relief.

In her works, nature is not just represented, it literally bursts onto the canvas to merge with it. The colours, with no subtle gradations, are charged and stretched, captivating the viewer's eye with a dazzling variety of hues. It is not brutality that dominates, but rather a sensation of elevation towards an ocean of gentleness.

Earth, sky and sea find in his art a space that fills and empties according to the textures and hues.

Galerie Montmartre

Permanent collection

To be found at the Galerie Montmartre

The gallery is presenting a series of six compositions of dazzling intensity.
The three elements - earth, sea and air - so dear to Joanna Ingarden are brought together in these canvases, but never in a uniform manner.

The variety of shapes and textures reveals a wild and untamed nature. Yet there is no confusion, only the frank expression of pure emotion.

The painter skilfully blends colours with strong tones, inviting us to sail through imaginary landscapes, similar to an archipelago in the middle of a storm or an island land covered in lush vegetation.
